| Opposites
attract – these two musicians prove the point once more. Friedemann, guitarist from
Germany, known for his sensitive instrumental compositions and French songwriter Patrick
Largounez, called Goun, sparkling with Mediterranean temperament and ambiguous lyrics,
team up for this remarkable production called »Les plaisirs de la vie« - the
pleasures of life. It is their third recording and marks the highlight of the duo's artistic development and their French-German friendship. |
|
| The ten songs on this album prove to
be the purest, most enjoyable product from these two very different characters. The
original song ideas came from Goun, while Friedemann added the sensitive arrangements and
fine-tuning, thereby taking the compositions to a level of highest clarity. Some of the tracks reflect Mediterranean lifestyle and the warm sunlight of Southern France. In others we hear quotes of Caribbean music which is an important part of French culture on the islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique. Brass music in the style of the Alsace region, Cajun elements and the typical French accordion (played by virtuoso Joerg Reiter) are also some of many musical elements in Goun's songs. Certainly Friedemann's contribution adds interesting facets to Goun's music. As a producer, he is responsible for the uncompromisingly audiophile sound quality of the recordings and as a composer and guitarist, Friedemann also imprints his unique ideas. "Petit, tu viens petit" for example, starts with the heartbeat of an unborn child and features the typical Friedemann guitar sounds. |
